The function Opening Report can help you to significantly reduce the amount of work required for preparation in your training. Starting from the position on your board the program uses information from the reference database to generate a survey which gives you in the form of a database text important information about the variation you have selected .

You start the function from the menu Report – Opening report.

As an example let us take the results from a standard variation of the Caro Kann Defence.

After Opening report has worked through the reference database the Report offers the following information in text form.

The opening report offers answers to numerous questions.

The historical development of the opening variation of which the predefined board position is a result, e.g. at what period was a specific variation played particularly frequently?

Which players preferred the opening at which points in time?

Which continuations are particularly promising?  In order to provide as meaningful results as possible the information taken into account relates only to players in the database who have a high Elo rating.

Which plans are there? What are the main variations, which lines are particularly critical?

Of course, the opening report also gives extensive information concerning the success rate, the drawing rate, the length of games, etc. In its evaluation of the material in the reference database the program also highlights priorities for practical play and immediately provides the player with ready-made repertoire suggestions (!) or presents the typical manoeuvres so as to quickly acquaint the user with the most important basic ideas behind the chosen system. It is actually not possible to have more rapid and more effective targeted opening preparation; all that is left for you is to play the game yourself...

The aforesaid information is provided by the program in the form of a database text, which can be saved for viewing and evaluating at some later point. The tips and links within the database text refer of course to the reference database which you have defined previously and can instantly simply be saved. Alternatively you can start an appropriate position search from within the reference database, then copy the games into a new database and then generate the opening report for that database.

With the chance to view interesting games the function Opening report relieves the user of an immense amount of work and constitutes a valuable aid in the preparation of opening training.
