Commonwealth-Meisterschaften in Chennai

26.11.2012 – Derzeit finden in Chennai, auch Madras genannt, zum 23sten mal die Meisterschaft der Commonwealth-Staaten statt. Das Turnier ist für jedermann offen, doch nur Staatsbürger aus einem der 54 Mitgliedsstaaten des Commonwealth of Nations können den Titel gewinnen. Die meisten der bisherigen Meisterschaften fanden in London oder in Indien statt. Diese beiden Nationen stellten bisher auch das Gros der Sieger. Im letzten Jahr in Südafrika gewann Gawein Jones. Diesmal fehlen die starken britischen Spieler. Natürlich stammt weitaus der größte Teil der über 450 Teilnehmer aus Indien. Elofavorit ist Sergey Tiviakov. ChessBase News erscheint inzwischen in vier Sprachen und gilt weltweit als wichtigste Schachnachrichtenseite.
