Wer die Runde live verfolgt hat, wird sich in der relativ frühen Phase der Partie zwischen Kateryna Lagno und Alina Kashlinskaya sicherlich gefragt haben, wie die Weißspielerin Lagno sich überhaupt aus ihrer passiven, schwer handhabbaren Stellung würde befreien können. Nun, sie schaffte es - dank tätiger Mithilfe ihrer Gegnerin. Kashlinskaya hatte zunächst alles richtig gemacht und sich eine hervorragende Stellung verschafft, doch dann glaubte sie, einen Bauern erbeuten zu können. Das war ganz falsch und verursachte einen scharfen Bruch in der schwarzen Partieführung:
