Wie der Autor im Einführungsvideo erklärt, bereichert die Kenntnis der klassischen Partien aus der Vergangenheit das Schachverständnis im Allgemeinen und hilft, das Niveau der eigenen Partien zu verbessern.
Es wurde aber kein Selbstläufer für Naka: Mit seinem Sieg in der dritten Partie (die Partien zwei und vier endeten remis) konnte Nepo ausgleichen und einen Armageddonentscheid erzwingen | Foto: FIDE / David Llada
Angesichts des Standes von 2:2 musste das Finale mit Hilfe einer Armageddonpartie entschieden werden. Armageddon, das bedeutet: Weiß bekommt mehr Zeit auf der Uhr, muss aber gewinnen; im Falle eines Remis würde Schwarz zum Sieger erklärt werden. Doch wer bekommt Weiß und wer Schwarz? Bei diesem Turnier mussten die Spieler "Gebote" bezüglich der Bedenkzeit abgeben, bevor die Fischer-Random-Ausgangsposition aufgedeckt wurde. Wer das höhere Gebot abgeben würde, würde mit Weiß spielen. Das kam dabei heraus: Naka hatte 14 Minuten geboten und bekam Weiß, Nepo erhielt angesichts seiner 13 Minuten Schwarz. Mit diesen Bedenkzeiten wurde die Armageddonpartie dann auch gespielt.
