So sehen Sieger aus: Dimitri Reinderman und Lisa Schut
Sowohl die Meisterschaft der Männer alls auch die Meisterschaft der Frauen wurden als Rundenturnier mit acht Teilnehmern bzw. Teilnehmerinnen ausgetragen. Elo-Favoriten bei den Männern waren Ivan Sokolov (2650), Jan Smeets (2643) und Erwin L'Ami (2640). Doch so richtig in Gang kam keiner dieser Drei.
Stattdessen machten Reinderman und Spoelman das Rennen und bewiesen bis zum Schluss starke Nerven und qualifizierten sich beide durch Siege in der Schlussrunde für den Stichkampf um die Meisterschaft.
Der strahlende Sieger Dimitri Reinderman
Beide hatten in der letzten Runde Schwarz, Spoelman gegen L'Ami, Reinderman gegen Pruijssers. Spoelman scheint dieser Druck inspiriert zu haben, denn er besiegte L'Ami mit Hilfe eines kreativen Damenopfers.

Reinderman wählte ein anderes Vorgehen. Er entschied sich für eine ruhige Partieanlage und kam mit Schwarz in einem Franzosen in ausgeglichener Stellung allmählich in Vorteil. Dieser Vorteil verwandelte sich in eine Gewinnstellung, als Pruijssers ein Fehler unterlief, der ihn einen Bauern kostete.

Die Entscheidung über den Titel des holländischen Meisters 2013 musste im Stichkampf fallen. Den entschied Reinderman mit 2:0 klar für sich.

Weit weniger dramatisch ging es bei den Damen zu. Das lag am souveränen Spiel von Lisa Schut. Sie gewann fünf Partien und machte zwei Remis und landete damit am Ende ganze zwei Punkte vor Anne Haast und Tea Lanchava.
