Keymer gewinnt Rubinstein-Gedenkturnier schon in der Vorschlussrunde

24.08.2024 – Vincent Keymer steht bereits eine Runde vor Turnierende als Sieger des 60. Akiba-Rubinstein-Gedenkturniers fest. Die Serie ist zu Ende – das Turnier aber dennoch gewonnen: Vincent Keymer verlor in Runde 8 mit Weiß gegen den im Mittelfeld rangierenden US-Amerikaner Sam Shankland. Er konnte dem genauen Spiel seines Gegners in keiner Phase Paroli bieten, kämpfte noch lange in einem schlechten Turmendspiel ums Überleben, musste dann aber letztlich resignieren.

Da Keymers direkter Verfolger und morgiger Gegner in der letzten Runde, der Pole Jan-Krzysztof Duda, aber gleichzeitig gegen seinen Landsmann David Navara verlor, profitiert Keymer von seinem komfortablen Vorsprung, den er sich in dieser für ihn so großartigen Woche erspielt hat: Vor der Schlussrunde liegt er uneinholbar mit 6 Punkten uneinholbar mit 1,5 Punkten in Front. Zweiter ist Vladimir Fedoseev mit 4,5 aus 8.

Stefan Liebig, geboren 1974, ist Journalist und Mitinhaber einer Marketingagentur. Er lebt heute in Barterode bei Göttingen. Im Alter von fünf Jahren machten ihn seltsame Figuren im Regal der Nachbarn neugierig. Seitdem hat ihn das Schachspiel fest in seinen Bann gezogen. Höhenflüge in die NRW-Jugendliga mit seinem Heimatverein SV Bad Laasphe und einige Einsätze in der Zweitligamannschaft von Tempo Göttingen waren Highlights für den ehemaligen Jugendsüdwestfalenmeister.
