FIDE World Women's Team Championship 2023
Im Pool A haben diese Länder das Viertelfinale erreicht: Kasachstan, Georgien, Frankreich und die Ukraine. Kasachstan hat diese Gruppe klar gewonnen und spielt im Viertelfinale gegen den Vierten aus Pool B: Deutschland. Schaut man auf die Elozahlen, dann kann Kasachstan, den guten Vorrundenergebnissen zum Trotz, jedoch nicht als Favorit betrachtet werden. In der K.-o.-Runde werden weiterhin 45+10-Partien gespielt; die miteinander gepaarten Mannschaften spielen jetzt aber zwei Matches, wobei für das Rückspiel die Farben vertauscht werden. Beginn der Viertelfinalmatches ist am Samstag um 15 Uhr bzw. (Rückspiel) 18 Uhr.
Im Pool B haben sich neben dem Vierten Deutschland auch die USA, Polen und China für die K.-o.-Runde qualifiziert.
Das Erreichen der K.-o.-Runde kam für die DSB-Mannschaft nur mit sehr viel Glück zustande: Elisabeth Pähtz gewann eine remisliche Partie, Jana Schneider remisierte eine eigentlich verlorene Partie. Der Endstand im Match der 5. Runde gegen Bulgarien lautete schließlich 2,5:1,5 zu Gunsten der deutschen Spielerinnen. Damit hatte man die Bulgarinnen um exakt einen halben Brettpunkt auf den undankbaren Platz fünf verdrängt.
Elisabeth Pähtz gewann ihre Partie gegen Antoaneta Stefanova schließlich doch noch, als die Bulgarin in der späten Endspielphase einen relativ groben Fehler machte:
