12.01.2020 – Die vielen Fans, die heute in Wijk die Bühne mit den Superstars des Schachs belagert haben, bekamen einiges geboten: Im Masters konnten in der 2. Runde mit Vladislav Artemiev, Wesley So, Jeffery Xiong und Daniil Dubov gleich vier Spieler ihre Partien gewinnen. Diese Spieler liegen, gemeinsam mit Alireza Firouzja, der gestern gewonnen hatte, mit jeweils 1,5 Punkten an der Tabellenspitze. Viswanathan Anand überzog Wesley So bereits in der Eröffnungsphase mit einem scharfen Angriff und schreckte dabei auch nicht vor Materialopfern zurück. Für ein Remis hätte das bei bestem Spiel gereicht, doch nachdem er zunächst zehn gute Züge gemacht hatte, fand Anand nicht mehr die beste Fortsetzung:

Vincent Keymer stand auch in seiner zweiten Partie in diesem Turnier auf Verlust - dann "veropferte" sich der Gegner plötzlich, wodurch Keymer unverhofft ein halber Punkt in den Schoß fiel.
