Maghsoodloo gewinnt 32. Magistral Ciudad de León

09.07.2019 – Vom 5. bis 7. Juli fand in der spanischen Stadt León wieder das "Magistral Ciudad de León" statt, ein Schachfestival mit langer Tradition. Kernstück des Festivals war das Schnellschachturnier im K.o.-Format, in dem Vassily Ivanchuk, die Nachwuchsspielern Nihal Sarin und Parham Maghsoodloo sowie der junge Spanier Jaime Santos gegeneinander antraten. Nach einem 2,5-1,5 Halbfinalsieg gegen Santos sicherte sich Maghsoodloo das Turnier mit einem 3-1 Finalsieg gegen Ivanchuk. | Foto: Amruta Mokal (Archiv)

Das Turnier

Insgesamt standen beim "Magistral Ciudad de León" drei Schnellschachwettkämpfe auf dem Programm - zwei Wettkämpfe im Halbfinale plus das Finale. Gespielt wurden jeweils vier Schnellpartien mit einer Bedenkzeit von 20 Minuten für die ganze Partie sowie einem Zeitzuschlag von 10 Sekunden pro Zug. Bei einem 2-2 Gleichstand nach vier Partien würden Blitzwettkämpfe die Entscheidung bringen, aber dazu kam es nicht. Alle drei Wettkämpfe waren bereits nach vier Partien entschieden.

Halbfinale 1: V. Ivanchuk 2½-1½ N. Sarin

Im 1. Halbfinale konnte sich der 50-jährige Ivanchuk knapp gegen seinen 14-jährigen Gegner Nihal Sarin durchsetzen. In der entscheidenden Partie zeigte Ivanchuk, warum Springer und Dame oft besser sind als Läufer und Dame.

Halbfinale 2: P. Maghsoodloo 2½-1½ J. Santos

Das Match zwischen Maghsoodloo und Santos war bereits nach drei Partien entschieden: nach einem Remis in der Auftaktpartie gewann Maghsoodloo, der klarer Favorit in diesem Match war, die Partien zwei und drei und lag so mit 2½-½ uneinholbar in Führung und konnte sich so eine Niederlage in der vierten Partie erlauben.

Finale: P. Maghsoodloo 3-1 V. Ivanchuk

Im Finale setzte sich Maghsoodloo dann 3-1 gegen Ivanchuk. Vor allem die Auftaktpartie war wichtig, denn Maghsoodloo konnte ein objektiv ausgeglichenes Springerendspiel gewinnen und die Führung im Wettkampf übernehmen. In den folgenden drei Partien lief Ivanchuk diesem Rückstand hinterher, aber konnte den Wettkampf nicht ausgleichen und verlor am Ende klar mit 1-3.
